Sanderson
I am researching the family tree of my grandfather, Walter Edwin
Sanderson, b.1889 in East Heslerton, son of William Hedley Sanderson
and Margaret Ann Barker. William b. about 1855 in Cayton, was the
son of Robert Sanderson and Mary ; Margaret Ann, b. Sept. 2, 1862
in Brompton, was the daughter of Edward Barker and Margaretta Jepson.
William and Margaret had at least 12 children; Thomas William, b.1879
; Robert Edward, b.1880; Annie Elizabeth, b.1882; Margaretta, b.1884
; Elise M, b.1885; Charles Jepson, b.1886 ;Mary Edith, b.1887;Walter
Edwin; Ernest Arthur, b.1891; Kate Eliza (Kit, b.1893 ; Donald, b. 1899 ; (John)
Geofffey, b, about1905. Kate /Kit married John Flood,had a son,Charles, and
lived in York. Charles married three times and apparently had a farm near Hackness.
Elsie lived in Ganton. There was also another child, Ella, who was supposedly
an adopted daughter but is shown as a granddaughter of William and Margaret
in the 1901 census; she married and lived in Northallerton. If anyone has any
information I would love to hear from them as I have no connections with any
members of the Sanderson family.

Sharp / Sharpe
I am looking for the deaths of Joseph Sharp/Sharpe (b. Leeds abt
1835) and his wife Sarah Burdon Sharp/Sharpe (b. Hutton Rudby
abt 1837; dau of Simeon Burdon and 2nd wife Sarah Ward, married
1824). Joseph and Sarah were married in 1858 in Hartlepool. They
had 12 children, 9 of whom lived to travel with the family to
Australia in 1883 then on to the Hawaiian Islands in the 1890s;
some returned to Yorkshire, one returned to Australia, some stayed
in the Hawaiian Islands, and some went on to California and Arkansas
in the US. Joseph and Sarah were in the Hawaiian Islands until
about 1902 or 1903, when they "went home to Leeds".
We believe they were still in the Leeds area at the turn of the
year 1909-1910, but have lost them after that. We think a brother
of Sarah Burdon Sharp/Sharpe was in Huddersfield about 1904 but
haven't yet traced that line. We think his name was C. S. Burdon.
Children of Joseph and Sarah were Sarah, Alice E., Grace Margaret,
Lilian Josephine, Augustus Peabody, Cecil E.B., Robert William,
Florence B., and Joseph Harold. Grace and Lily returned to Yorkshire;
we have their information, as well as the other children. Looking
mainly for the deaths of the parents Joseph and Sarah Burdon

Sheffield / Sutton
I am looking for information on the Sheffield family from the
Huttons Ambo/Malton area. William Sheffield (b. 1762) married Sophia
Ward (b. 1762). They had several children. My ancestor is their
son, Thomas B Sheffield (b. 1797). He emigrated to the US (first
Kentucky, later New York) about 1819. His oldest brother was William
Sheffield (b. 1787). He stayed in Yorkshire and was a surgeon.
He eventually moved to Farmanby. Thomas had a sister, Sophia Sheffield
(b. 1799), who also emigrated to New York. She never married and
became a naturalized US citizen (fairly rare for a woman at that
time). Her occupation on a US census is listed as "lady".
Another brother (? unsure of their relationship), Richard H Sheffield
(b. 1789), came to New York around 1819. Another sister, Elizabeth
Sheffield (b. 1791) married a William Robinson (b. 1786) and emigrated
to New York with their 6 children. Another sister, Sarah Sheffield
(b. 1793) married a Robert Sutton (b. 1790). They stayed in Yorkshire,
but their children emigrated to New York.
To the best of my knowledge, this family was associated with the
parish church of St. Michaels, Old Malton. Any info would be greatly
appreciated. I'm hoping to make a trip to Yorkshire from the US
next summer. I'd love to have a firm grasp of where to start my
research.
