Filder or Fidler
My 2G grandmother was Ann Eliza Filder, the daughter of Robert
Filder, who at the time of her marriage to William Tomlinson of
Dudley in 1838, was a miller living at Eves Hill, Worcestershire.
She was born in Driffield, Yorkshire in 1814. After searching the
records for Robert Filder in Driffield at that time, the only name
which resembles this is that of Robert Fidler, also a miller employed
at the Bell Mills in Driffield in 1822. During 1828, Robert purchased
the mill and converted it to mill pulp in order to produce paper.
The venture seems to have been unsuccessful. Is this the same person
who moved to Worcestershire? Are Robert Fidler and Robert Filder
the same person? I am looking for information on either person
and would appreciate any help.

I am looking to trace the parentage of my great-great-great-grandfather, Henry Firth, born about 1814 in Hunsworth (Bierley). He married Martha Greenough on 26 July 1840 at the Church Of Tong in York. On his marriage certificate his father is named as Joseph Firth, a wheelwright. Henry and Martha had six children:

Firth
I am looking to find information regarding the first wife, three children and sister of George Arthur Firth (my grandfather) who was born in 1872 and lived at St Mary's Row, York. His mother's name was Annie Firth (a dressmaker) but I can find no trace of a father. He had one sister, Ciceley Firth, born in 1879 who also lived at St Mary's Row.
George originally worked on the railway and then joined the Police Force. He moved to 15 Church View Gardens, Gisburn which was then part of North Yorkshire, and continued in the Police Force. He had married a lady called Elizabeth and had one son, George Arthur b.1995 in York, and two daughters, Elsie b.1898 and Hilda b.1900 both being born in Gisburn. In 1903 George resigned from the Police and I assume came to Leeds where he married a Grace North (née Robson) at Leeds Registry Office. He rejoined the Police Force in 1914. I can find no trace of Elizabeth (the first wife) nor the two daughters, Elsie and Hilda. The son, George, came to Leeds with the father I believe, but no family member ever mentioned the first wife, two daughters, nor his sister, Ciceley.

Firth
I am seeking information about my great-grandmother, Annie/Anne Elizabeth Firth. She was born about April/May, 1853. Most probably she was born in Yorkshire. She claimed Selby as her place of birth, but this seems improbable, as there are no records of her birth in this town and there are very few Firth families. Her most likely place of birth is in and around Halifax or Bradford. She had a child in April 1871 with my great-grandfather, Maximilian Edward Werner, a merchant in the textile trade, who sometimes added von/van Wernshuysen to his name. He was living in Halifax, Yorkshire and she was living in Chorlton-on-Medlock, Lancashire at the time of their daughter Annie's birth. I have never found a marriage record for this couple. The birth record of infant Annie indicates that the couple was not married. They, however, immigrated to Colorado, USA in 1873, where they had numerous other children, prospered and died in the early 20th century.

Isabel Fothrgill, born 1711 of Mossdale, Aisgarth, Yorkshire, married James Thistlethwaite born 26 July 1708, in Harborgill, Dent Dale, died 24 feb 1786 in Stalling Busk, Yorkshire. She, according to Bernard Thistlethwaite's book, is probably daughter of Richard Fothergill and Rachel, and NOT related to the family of Alexander Fothergill. She had a brother named Edmond.
They do not appear in the Fothergill book, nor could they be identified at the Friends' Library in London. Any other ideas? I wonder if they relate to the earalier Edmond, born 7 Mar, 1768, of Broughill as Wetheralds of Brough hill also connect to this family.

My grandfather, Richard Fell Foster, was born at Gruskham, just out of High Bentham, on 12 Dec 1873. He was the eldest child of 12 of John Foster (1851-1901) and Elizabeth (nee Fell, 1851-1922).
I have traced this family line back to 1682, to a marriage of Johannis Foster and Alicia Rimington.
Richard's brother, John Francis, was also born at Gruskham, in 1875. From there the family moved eastward into Lancashire. In 1913 Richard, his wife and their 3 sons and 2 daughters came to New Zealand.
I am interested in making contact with anyone who is researching the Fosters in the Bentham area, pre 1850.

My grandfather, Richard Fell Foster, was born at Gruskham, about three miles out of High Bentham on 12 December 1873. His parents were John Foster (1851-1901) also born at Bentham and Elizabeth Fell (1851-1923) born at Cunsey Mill, Westmorland.
I have managed to trace a direct line of the Fosters in Bentham, back to the marriage on the 6 December 1682 of Johannis Foster and Alicia Rimington – my 7x great-grandparents. My interest now lies in trying to find any person, or persons who may know of, or are interested in following further information related to the Bentham Fosters.

Fothergill
I am looking for the family tree of the Fothergill's of Carr End
House, Wensleydale from the 1600's (or earlier) through to the
1800's. I am trying to determine the family tree of Eleanor Fothergill,
who would have been born between 1755 and 1768 somewhere in the
Dales area. She was married in 1784 in Liverpool to William Robinson,
a bookseller also of the Dales. I have very little else on her
but I believe through various searches that both the families
of the Robinson's and the Fothergills were linked several generations
back by their practice of Quakerism. (I have also subitted a
search for Quaker Robinson's on this site.) And so it is not
implausible that descendents of these families would end up marrying.
Eleanor Fothergill had several children with William Robinson
in Liverpool and from those there is a large Robinson family,
with origins in Liverpool and then they spread further out through
marriage and occupation. They were bankers, barristers, (one,
William Fothergill Robinson the 2nd was a Q.C) and acedemics
and then some. I would love to find a link to the Fothergill
Quakers and prove my theory that they had a long link with the
Robinson Quakers as well.

I am trying to find my rootes so far I have gone back to James Pearson who was
the son of a John Pearson (c1673 - 1740 a Wheelwright), who was born c1723
in Loughton en le Morthen, Yorkshire. James Pearson moved to Fishlake, Yorkshire
where he became a Keelman working on the large keel boats on the canals between
Sheffield and Thorne. He met and married a Mary France on 28/5/1751. His son
was Richard Pearson Started a shipbuilding business at Thorne Quay (now waterside)
just outside Thorne. His house was Field House, on the main road into Thorne.
James died of apoplexy in 1778. I have come across qute a few Pearsons from
Loughton en le Morthen. Nicholas Pearson's 1672 he lived in Laughton en le
Morthen and is mentioned in the history of the village as being heavily taxed
for having 14 hearths. He had a son John but cannot prove its the John above.
William Hunt Pearson took over the shipbuilding Business and moved to Hull.
Robert Pearson his elder brother, and who I am related to, moved to London
to look after Stanton's Wharfe the london end of the business. I would love
to hear from anybody who may be connected with this family.
